Description: This is an exceptionally fine and very scarce World War I Bavarian Commemorative Pilot’s Badge that remains in excellent condition. It is of hollow construction with a plain back plate that is without a maker’s mark. There is a single ‘weep’ hole below the pin catch at the lower part of the badge. The badge features a soaring eagle flying above a pastoral farming landscape below. The outer edges of the badge are formed by a laurel and oak leave wreath tied with ribbon bow at the base. Surmounting the badge is a beautifully detailed Bavarian crown. The construction and craftsmanship of this badge are of the highest quality. The silver is now with an attractive, even age toned patina. The pin and catch assemblies are present and fully functional. This is a very scarce and seldom seen unmarked Carl Pöllath made Imperial German aviation badge that remains in excellent, undamaged condition. The best of the best. 8853
