Description: WWI US ARMY M1917 BOLO KNIFE AND CANVAS SCABBARD: Great for militaria collectors and outdoorsmen. Our military used the same basic bolo knife from the turn of the century through WWII. Manufactured from 1897 to 1918, this specific designed Model was used from during WWI, it went through changes during its production life. First issued to medical personnel in combat zones, t it was later issued to combat troops as a trench tool and weapon if needed. It has a thick ¼” 1075 high carbon steel blade that is full tang and is integrally constructed. It has wood grips that are secured by two large screw bolts. The right side of the blade base is stamped “US MOD 1917 C.T.” and the reverse side is stamped “PLUMB STLOUIS 1918”. Includes a canvas & leather scabbard that includes a “1918” dated stamp on the leather tip. It has a steel hanger hooks for carrying on belts. Condition is excellent – was never actually used.
