Description: STK: #BAYO5Brought to you by CAMARILLO TRADERS specialists in new, used & antique arms, collectible militaria and rustic ephemera WWI 1911 US Machine Gun & Artillery Crew M1910 Springfield Armory Bolo Knife & Leather Scabbard Manufacturer: Springfield Armory Model: M1910 >--> Condition: Very Good - Very Good Plus Blade Length: 10.25" TEXT GOES HERETEXT GOES HERE --> Offered here is a WWI US Machine Gun and Artillery Crew M1910 bolo knife and leather scabbard. This was made for crews to clear brush and foliage from fields of fire or for cutting through jungle growth. The knife was produced between 1910 and 1917. Approximately 60,000 were produced before the M1917 Bolo came out. Overall, this bolo knife is in Very Good - Very Good Plus condition. There is a press catch to attach it to the scabbard. The press catch has stiff spring tension. The pommel and guard are securely fastened to the tang. There are handling marks and scrapes. The coloring has started to turn to a nice plum patina. The screw escutcheons securely fasten the two finger grooved wood grip panels. The screws have slightly worn slots and light oxidation. The wood has compressions and light draglines. The panels have darkened with age. The spine and sides have handling marks, scrapes and some discoloration. The blade has no nicks or dings and appears to have its original factory edge. The tip is intact and comes to a semi-sharp straight point. The finish is in the white. The left ricasso is marked "S.A." over a flaming bomb that is over "1911". The right ricasso is marked "US / 6941". There is an "H / H" on both grip panels. We are not sure what that represents. The metal / leather scabbard is in Very Good - Very Good Plus condition, considering its age. The metal locket has light handling marks and scuffs. It has started to oxidize and turn colors. It is securely attached to the leather body. The body has no chips or cracks and the stitching is sewn tightly. The leather has hardened. It retains its original color. The knife slides in and out easily. However, it does not have the the retaining latch for the press catch to latch onto. There are no markings on the scabbard. This bolo knife and scabbard will be a great addition to your WWI Artillery Crew collection, or a bolo knife collection in general.
