The vast majority of Germans in World War II were Catholics. Like many funeral services today, a small card (usually baseball card size) were printed with a photo and brief history of the deceased. This custom has existed for several centuries and was very prevalent during the Second World War. These particular card was printed in remembrance of: Karl Rastl Karl was a Sergeant in the Mountain troops and was awarded the Iron Cross 1st and 2nd Classes, Infantry Assault Badge, and a Wound badge. He fell in Russia on on November 26, 1942 at the age of 26. Please be sure to check back often as we will be listing more coins and currency.
