The trunk alone tells a story. The individuals name (He passed before his wife. She passed in 2010), military ID number, previous address, stickers showing the dollar amount of items in the trunk, airlines & van lines it traveled on are also still on the trunk. There’s even a sticker that appears to suggest at some point the individual sent the trunk to family in Florida, although he resided in Kansas. (The trunk was found in Colorado.) It’s traveled a fair amount. - - The one thing we have struggled to determine is what branch of the military the individual was in or exactly what era it is from. After looking at similar pieces (and taking into account when the man was born/passed), we believe this piece to be from WWll - Vietnam War era - - This is an incredible piece! Yes the wood is old, there are scratches, scuff marks, the latches & lock are rusty, and the paint is peeling. However, all those things that others may call “imperfections,” I’d call them “A part of an incredible story, U.S. history, & proof of how long this piece has (and will) withstood the test of time.” ONCE MORE, PLEASE NOTE: >> The individuals name, military ID number, and personal addresses are blacked out in pictures in the listing. They will be 100% visible to the individual who purchases it << APPROXIMATE MEASUREMENTS: 31”L x 17”W x 13”H ADDITIONAL INFO: The trunk opens and closes just fine. The hardware is old and rusty, but works as it should. (It may take a little extra effort to securely latch it shut, however I have had no problems with it.) There is enough info regarding the original owner on this piece to do some fun research, which I have. The lock (no key) clearly has raised lettering that says “Yale 45T” on it. The paint is peeling. The wood inside the trunk and on the bottom of the box are flaking & have wear. However, all of these things are a part of its charm. *The piece will be wrapped in plastic & bubble wrap before stretch wrapping it & placing it in a larger box.
