Zamberlan Men’s 1996 Vioz Lux GTX RR Leather Hiking Boot Waxed Black EU 47 US 12

Description: Zamberlan Men’s 1996 Vioz Lux GTX RR Leather Hiking Boot Waxed Black EU 47 US 12. Nearly new. Note that these list for $390.00 Handmade in Italy. To me the rand is important for keeping the leather on the toe from getting scratched (see below regarding the less expensive 996 model). Note that Zamberlan sizing calls a size 12 US a 47 EU, whereas most often the size 12 is called a 46. See the Zamberlan sizing page. I normally wear a 12 in most footwear, and this fits me perfectly. My left foot is slightly smaller, so I wear a slightly thicker sock and that evens them out nicely. This is the standard width. Zamberlan also makes this boot in a wider last, but that’s only available in the brown version. I don’t recommend purchasing these if you haven’t already established this as your size, since I won’t accept a return. (Of course, new, returnable ones are available at Zappos and elsewhere, hint hint). I wore these a little but decided I didn’t need a second pair. I already have a pair of these in the brown. Note sole wear in the pics. Pebbling is still there. My estimate is that I’ve put 5 miles on these. These have not been broken in. The fit will adapt to your foot during break-in. Leather is thick but relatively soft, perhaps from the waxing process. I found these considerably more comfortable than the standard Vioz 996 version, which also lack the rubber rand and the calf collar. One piece leather upper. Calf leather interior collar. Collar/ankle has the Zamberlan Flex feature. Helps with break-in and does not affect waterproofness. Full Gore-Tex interior including bottom of foot. Midsole is on the softer side. See Zamberlan site regarding sole, last, and midsole design. One of the most distinctive aspects of this boot is the rocker. Note curve in the sole in the forefoot and heel. You have to try it to see how well this works. I’m including two sets of laces. They originally came with a set of flat bright red laces, which I found too bright. I also found the round red/gray laces a bit loud. So, I got a pair of gray round Hanwag laces, which work great. These sets are both included. The flat reds are AWOL, but Zamberlan has them on their accessories page should you want them. See pics of this model on the Zamberlan site for the flat reds. The leather hasn’t been treated yet with the Zamberlan Hydrobloc, but I do recommend using it. I apply it once or twice a year on my other pair. I’m happy to answer questions about these, since like I said I have an identical pair in brown, and I’ve had those for 7 years now.
